How we price our services

We charge £60 for the first hour of service. The IT engineer is yours for this hour. If your computer problem is diagnosed and repaired before the hour is up, then ask your engineer to perform more services until the hour is complete.

We charge in quarter of an hour time slots after that first hour. This is so that you do not get charged a complete hour if you don't need that much time. This keeps the cost down for you, the customer.

It's always difficult to give you a time estimate on how long it will to take to diagnose a computer problem before we've seen it. Once we've started, if it looks as if it's going to take more than an hour, the engineer will give you an estimate of the time to complete the project. We will always present you with the most cost effective option. We want to give you the best service we can, that way we hope you'll come back and tell your friends. Sometimes, the most cost effective way is to save time. So, for example it may be quicker and thus more cost effective to transfer the data from your hard drive onto another hard drive if you have a virus or other serious problem. It's always advisable that you are on the premises when the engineer is there. This enables you to make quick and informed decisions that save your time. You will need to sign a completion document upon completion of the work.

Why do we charge per gigabyte for data transfer?

Data can be precious. Data such as photos and videos. 'Like teardrops in the rain', to quote a famous Sci-Fi film, if you lose it, it can be gone forever. Hardware, like a hard drive, is relatively cheap. Transferring data from one device to another takes time. Over a USB connection it takes 9 minutes to transfer just 1 Gigabyte of data, so, on an hourly rate that gets expensive. To save you money, we charge per Gigabyte of data transfer. This charge only comes into effect after the first hour and doesn't apply at all if you purchase our online data backup service that backs up your hard drive into the cloud. Anyway, recovering and transfering data will usually cost significantly more than the device it's stored on.

Once the computer engineer has started the data transfer process, he or she can show you what to do once the transfer is complete. If you purchase the leads or any other materials used or if you already have them, the engineer can leave your premises. As long as you are comfortable with this arrangement, you can save a significant amount of money. If however you need to call the engineer back, we will have to charge an hourly rate but this will probably still be cheaper than keeping our engineer at the premises.
